Are you interested in learning about artistic design and flower shows?

Flower Show School is a series of four courses that covers the principles of floral design as well as fundamentals of plant life. Training is given in judging design and horticulture.  Courses may be taken in any order and may be attended by any garden club member. 

After successful completion of the four courses and after passing the reading exam, a member may become an accredited judge.

FSS is open to all.  You may attend a single session or entire course.

Flower Show School – Course III

August 27-30, 2018

The Kirkley Hotel and Conference Center

2900 Candlers Mountain Road, Lynchburg, VA  25402

Horticulture: Jan Griffen will teach creating a horticulture schedule as well as discuss club competition, displays and gardens.  Sunflower and coleus plants will be the horticulture specimens.

Design and Flower Show Procedure:  Lynn Fronk will teach both Flower Show Procedure and Design classes.  She will discuss judging procedure and innovative staging.  Creative designs will be demonstrated.

Monday, August 27

3:45 – 6 pm    Flower Show Procedure

Tuesday, August 28

8:45 am – 3:30 pm   Horticulture

4 – 6 pm    Point Scoring Test

Wednesday, August 29

8:45 am – 3:30 pm     Design

4 – 6 pm Point Scoring Test

Thursday, August 30

9 am – 12 noon Written Examination
